Overview
Aguebao is a theatre performance that explores the value of human identity, especially gender, as commodified by data. Originally conceptualized as a 15-min performance and installation at the Gender Bender festival in 2019, Aguebao uncovers our present relationship with technology, focusing on the unconscious bias and discriminatory practices in the tech industry that perpetuates (and widens) social and gender gaps.
Aguebao is developed by Varoon P. Anand, Gaurav Singh and Kaivalya Plays.
This performance was originally conceptualized as a 15-min show and installation at the Gender Bender Festival in 2019, receiving a seed grant from Sandbox Collective and Goethe-Institut Mumbai. In 2020, the show was also selected and performed at the Reconnect - Online Theatre Festival (Iran).
